Forty-Sixth Star Press

Forty-sixth Star Press was established in Oklahoma City in 2008. Our initial focus is to tell Oklahoma's story to children, but we hope to expand beyond that and give that Oklahoma manner a voice.

Our distinctive name was inspired by Oklahoma's entry as the 46th state in 1907. The logo is derived from the original state flag which was created in 1911, but was decommissioned in 1925 because it was feared the vibrant red field suggested that we were a Socialist state. We're not Socialists, we just think it looks cool.

Sandy Phillippe’s book takes today’s children, whose lives are filled with electronic gadgets and programmed activities crammed into a fast-paced lifestyle, and transports them to a simpler era when families had more time for each other.  But far from being a dull place, the children in Sandy’s book experience every child’s dream of adventure and discovery all the while being imbued with those values and traditions that have enriched the lives of generations gone before.  As an elementary classroom teacher of seventeen years, I sense a longing in my children (although perhaps not articulated or even recognized) for such a time with their families.  Sandy’s book will help children regain that lost sense of the value of family and perhaps help families to recapture those simple pleasures once again.

Dale Whisman

Author of the Carl Jacobs Mysteries.

Carl Jacobs, a private investigator, agrees to meet an informant, Jimmy ‘The Blue’ Jay—a man Carl grew up with. Jimmy has been a guest in Carl’s house, and is considered almost a member of the family by Carl’s wife, Sherry, and their two young daughters. But apparently Jimmy has other friends.

As soon as Carl arrives, Jimmy starts shooting at him from a dark alley. Carl is wounded but returns fire, and Jimmy is killed. Now Carl has to find out why Jimmy tried to murder him. The solution to this puzzle becomes even more urgent when subsequent attempts are made on Carl’s life.

The answer he seeks lies somewhere within the maze of a multi-million-dollar insurance fraud scheme perpetrated by an attorney and a chiropractor, and a lot of very greedy ‘accident victims.’ Some people prove ruthless when millions of dollars are at stake. And some men can be even more ruthless when their families are threatened.
